You don't have to be an expert gardener to get the most from plants and gardening. PlantforLife aims to help you get the most from your garden with gardening advice, information and inspirational ideas. |
Nature's Remedy
Floral and herbal scents have long been recognised for their health and wellbeing benefits, such as memory boosters, stress relievers and stimulants.
PlantforLife research shows that just 12% of people actually plant these scents in their gardens, with a quarter (25%) admitting they wouldn’t know how to use them to benefit their health, if they did grow them. PlantforLife has teamed up with aromacologist, Daniele Ryman and celebrity plantsman, Chris Collins, to offer advice and guidance on the benefits garden plants can bring.
 ActiveLife
Research shows that just 21 minutes of gardening a day can improve your fitness levels. PlantforLife’s ActiveLife campaign supports the Change4Life initiative to show families that planting and eating fruit and vegetables results in healthier eating habits as well as a more active lifestyle.
PlantforLife has joined forces with personal trainer, Kevin Adams and celebrity plantsman Chris Collins. Together they have helped PlantforLife develop a downloadable guide to encourage exercise in the garden and show how to plant your way to 5 a day.
Bee friendly
Bees love gardens. In fact bees are more likely to call our gardens home than anywhere else in the UK, favouring our plots to grassland or woodland. However these charming creatures with their brightly coloured bodies are struggling for survival. That is where we can come to the rescue. Collectively our great British gardens are the largest nature reserve in the UK.
PlantforLife has produced a factsheet which gives a list of plants that encourage bees back into the garden with hints and tips on how and where to plant and care for them.
Neighbourhood Crop swap
Neighbourhoods can work together as a community with each growing different fruit and vegetables. It doesn’t matter whether you have a garden, balcony or roof garden, as there is something to suit everyone’s taste and garden space.
PlantforLife aims to show people up and down the country how easy it is to plant and maintain crops and therefore encourage them to plant their own and take part in a neighbourhood swap!
